Instant wheat flour dosa with red chutney

Dosa's are popular south indian thin crepe made with fermented rice and lentil batter but in this recipe we will learn to make it instantly using wheat flour, rava(suji) and curd. You can have it as lunch, dinner or breakfast meal. It can be prepared in very less time using simple ingredients. Dosas are so versatile dish, you can have it with sambar, red chutney, coconut chutney, peanut chutney etc. Today I will share with you instant wheat dosa recipe served with onion tomato based red chutney. Unlike other traditional south indian dosa, this recipe does not require fermentation and batter is ready within minutes. So without much delay, lets jump on the recipe.

Servings : 4

Ingredients required ( For dosa batter)

1.) Wheat flour - 2 small bowl 

2.) Rava (Suji) - 1 small bowl

3.) Curd ( Dahi) - 1 small bowl

4.) Salt - as required

5.) Water - as required ( Around 2-3 cups)

6.) Eno fruit salt - 1 pack

For Onion tomato chutney (Red chutney) :

1.) Dried red chillies - 2

2.) Garlic cloves - 3-4 

3.) Ginger - 1/2 inch piece

4.) Tomatoes - 3 medium roughly chopped

5.) Salt - as per taste

6.) Oil - 1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon for tempering

7.) Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon

8.) Curry leaves - 3

9.) Green chilli - 1 finely chopped

10.) Onion - 2 medium thinly sliced

Method of Preparation (Dosa batter)

1.) Take a large bowl, add 2 cups wheat flour, 1 cup suji, 1 cup curd, 1 teaspoon salt and 1 cup of water. whisk well and make sure there are no lumps. Add 1 cup of water or as required and make a batter of pouring consistency. Rest the batter for 15 mins.



2.) Onion tomato chutney (Red chutney) - Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a pan, add dried red chilli, ginger, garlic cloves, green chilli and saute it for a min.

3.) Now add sliced onions and fry it till onions becomes transluscent.

4) Further add chopped tomatoes, curry leaves, salt and cook till tomatoes becomes soft and mushy. 


5.) Now transfer this mixture into a blender and make a smooth paste.


6.) Tempering of chutney - Heat 1/2 tbsp of oil, add mustard seeds, curry leaves, add it to the paste. Red chutney is ready.


7.) Cooking of Dosa - Add 1 pack of Eno fruit salt to the batter, the batter becomes frothy, add little water to make the batter of pouring consistency.

8.) Now carefully pour dosa batter on hot tawa/pan.


9.) Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of oil on top and cook the dosa till crispy and golden brown at base. Cook the dosa on medium flame.



10.) Serve it hot with red chutney, sambar, potato filling etc. Enjoy 😊.
