Veg club sandwich

Club sandwich is a multi decker sandwich which is quite popular and can satisfy your hunger anytime and anywhere in the world. This recipe is a slightly indianised version in which one of the layers comprises of  vegetarian tomato omelette, one creamy coleslaw layer, boiled potato layer and rest of the sandwich comprises of crunchy vegetables. You can always experiment a bit with this sandwich adding or removing ingredients as per your taste. The sandwiches are high in carbs that keep you energetic for day's work. Let's learn how to make it.

Ingredients needed :

1.) Bread slices - 12
2.) Gram flour(Besan)- 3 tablespoon
3.) Cabbage finely chopped - 1/2 cup
4.) Tomato - 2 thinly sliced, 1 finely chopped
5.) Capsicum (shimla mirch)- 1 small finely chopped
6.) Onion rings - 1 Large thinly sliced
7.) Mayonnaise - 1/2 cup
8.) Black pepper powder(Kali mirch) - 1 tablespoon
9.) Salt - as per taste
10.) Chaat masala powder - 1 tablespoon
11.) Oil - For greasing and cooking
12.) Italian herbs/ oregano - 1 teaspoon
13.) Boiled potato - 1 Large ( thinly sliced)
14.) Tomato ketchup - 3 tablespoon
15.) Red chilli powder - 1/2 teaspoon
16.) Butter - 6 teaspoon for spreading
17.) Satay sticks /toothpicks - 6

Method of Preparation:

1.) In a large bowl add chopped cabbage, capsicum and tomato. Now add mayonnaise, black pepper powder, Italian herbs and little bit of salt. Mix it well. Your coleslaw spread is ready.

2.) In a deep bowl add besan, chopped tomatoes, little bit of salt, red chilli powder, pinch of chaat masala powder with approx 3/4 cup of water and mix well to make a batter of pouring consistency. 

3.) Heat a pan to a medium flame and grease it lightly with oil. Pour a ladleful of the batter on the pan and spread in a circular  motion to make a circle. Cook on both the sides using a little oil till golden brown spots appear on both the sides. keep it aside.

4.) Grease the pan with oil and add thin round shaped boiled potato and cook it on both the side using oil until the colour turns golden brown. Once potato turns crispy and golden brown. Turn off the flame and sprinkle some chaat masala powder.

Assembling of sandwich:

1.) Divide the coleslaw into 3 equal portions and keep it aside.
2.)Apply 1 tsp of butter evenly over the 1st toasted bread slice and spread a portion of the coleslaw evenly over it.


3.) On the 2nd toasted bread slice spread 1 tsp of tomato ketchup evenly over it. Now place tomato omelette on this bread slice over the sauce. Arrange 4 onion rings and sprinkle some chaat masala over it. Place the 2nd toasted bread slice over the first bread slice.

4.) On the 3rd toasted bread slice spread 1/2 tsp of tomato ketchup evenly over it. Arrange 2-3 potato and 2 tomato slices evenly over it. Sprinkle some black pepper powder and pinch of salt over this slice. Place the 3rd bread slice over the 2nd slice.

5.) Apply 1/2 tsp of butter, 1/2 tablespoon of coleslaw and tomato ketchup over the 4th toasted bread slice and place it over the 3rd bread slice with butter side facing downwards and press it lightly.

6.) Insert big satay toothpick on 2 opposite corners of the sandwich to hold the sandwich properly and cut into half from the other side diagnolly. Serve immediately with tomato ketchup or potato wafers๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹
