Schezwan paneer club sandwich

Schezwan paneer club sandwich is an indo-chinese fusion recipe. It is crispy on the outside and has spicy, delicious Schezwan paneer filling inside. The filling consists of paneer cubes, onions, tangy and spicy Schezwan sauce, ginger, garlic, green chillies and few powdered spices. Layered with fresh cucumber and tomato slices, green mayonnaise dressing and a cheese slice. This yummy grilled sandwich is full of flavors, easy to prepare and perfect for breakfast, evening snack or kids lunch boxes. So let's start the recipe.

Servings : 4

Ingredients required :

1.) Paneer - 250 gm diced into cubes

2.) Bread slices - 12

3.) Onion - 1 Large finely chopped

4.) Ginger - 1 inch finely chopped

5.) Garlic - 5-6 finely chopped

6.) Green chillies - 2 finely chopped

7.) Tomato - 2 medium thinly sliced

8.) Cucumber - 1 thinly sliced

9.) Green capscicum/ shimla mirch - 1 Large finely chopped

10.) Curd - 1 small bowl

11.) Gram flour/besan - 2 tbsp

12.) Red chilli powder - 1 tsp

13.) Garam masala powder - 1 tsp

14.) Coriander powder - 1 tsp

15.) Oil - 3 tbsp

16.) Schezwan sauce - 2-3 tbsp

17.) Tomato ketchup - 1 tbsp

18.) Salt - as per taste

19.) Mayonnaise - 3 tbsp

20.) Green chutney - 2 tbsp

21.) Chaat masala powder -1 tbsp

22.) Cheese slice - 4

23.) Butter/ ghee - For toasting

24.) Amchur powder - 1 tsp



Method of Preparation :
1.) Schezwan Paneer filling - Roast 2 tbsp besan in a pan for few mins and keep it aside. Now heat 2 tbsp of oil in the same pan and add red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, amchur powder and saute it for few seconds. (Be very careful do not burn the spices. The spices will release their colour and flavor in the oil.)

2.) Now add besan, curd in the oil and stir it continuously for 2 mins in order to avoid lumps. The mixture should be smooth and thick in consistency.


3.) Heat 1 tbsp of oil in another pan, add chopped ginger, garlic, green chillies and saute it for few mins till raw smell of garlic, ginger goes away. Further add chopped onion, capsicum and cook till onion becomes soft and transluscent. 

4.) Now mix onion masala and spice masala together, add salt, Schezwan sauce, tomato ketchup, paneer cubes and little water. Cover the lid and cook masala untill oil gets separated from it.


5.) Now in a bowl add mayonnaise, green chutney and mix it well. Mayo dressing is ready.

6.) Assembling of paneer club sandwich - To make a double decker club, arrange 3 bread slice in a row. Spread butter on one side of slice and top it up with tomato slices,cucumber slices and sprinkle some chaat masala over it.

7.) On second slice first spread mayonnaise dressing, top it up with paneer filling and cheese slice.

8.) Carefully place second slice of bread on top of first slice of bread. Spread mayo dressing on third slice, cover with the third slice of bread, mayonnaise side down. Apply butter on top of the third slice, arrange all the three slices of bread and grill it on pan.


9.) Repeat entire process with remaining ingredients to form 3 more sandwiches. Using a knife cut each sandwich diagonally into 2 triangular pieces. Serve with potato chips, ketchup.
