Veggie Burger recipe

Burger is a type of sandwich which consists of cooked patties of meat, vegetables, soyabean etc. These patties can be pan fried or grilled served in a split bun or roll along with cheese, sauces and variety of toppings. Today I will share with you the recipe of vegetable burger wherein the patty is made of variety of healthy vegetables. This recipe is simple, quick and delicious to make and a healthy alternative to meat based burger. Crispy, flavorful patty sandwiched between soft toasted buns and vibrant freshness of cucumber, tomatoes, onion and sweet & tangy mayonnaise dressing will take this burger to a next level. So let's start the recipe.


Preparation time - 40 mins

Cooking time - 30 mins

Servings - 4

Ingredients required :

1.) Buns - 4

2.) Cheese slice -  4

3.) Tomato - 2 medium

4.) Vegetables - 1 Large bowl of your choice

a.) Carrot - 2 medium grated

b.) Capsicum - 2 medium finely chopped

c.) Boiled potato - 2 large

d.) Green chillies - 2 finely chopped

e.) Ginger - 1/2 inch piece finely chopped

5.) Red chilli powder - 1 teaspoon

6.) Salt - as per taste

7.) Dry mango powder/ Amchur powder - 1 tablespoon

8.) Chaat masala powder - 1 teaspoon

9.) Cumin/jeera - 1 teaspoon

10.) Garam masala powder - 1 teaspoon

11.) Bread crumbs - 1 bowl

12.) Maida/All purpose flour - 4 tablespoon

13.) Water - 1/2 cup

14.) Garlic cloves - 2 finely chopped

15.) Oil - For shallow frying ( 100 ml)

16.) Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoon

17.) Schzwan sauce - 1 tablespoon

18.) Tomato ketchup - 1 tablespoon( optional)

Method of Preparation:

1.) Preparation of vegetable masala- Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a pan and add cumin, once it crackles add chopped ginger, green chillies and saute it for a min till raw smell of ginger goes away.


2.) Now add chopped vegetables carrot, capscicum and saute it till it softens.


3.) Further add boiled potato and then goes on all the powdered spices red chilli powder, Amchur powder, salt, Garam masala powder, chaat masala powder. Mix it well and let it cook for 10-15 mins on medium flame. Keep it aside and let it cool.


4.) Preparation of Bread crumbs - Bread crumbs are used to bind the vegetable patties and to make it crisp. Break 3-4 sliced of bread and add it to mixer jar, grind it to a semi fine consistency and place it on a plate.(Do not make it powdery). Place it in a plate and keep it aside.


5.) Preparation of Tangy mayonnaise dressing - In a bowl add 2 tbsp mayonnaise, 1 tbsp of Schzwan sauce and 1tbsp of tomato ketchup. Mix it well. Mayo dressing is ready.

6.) Making vegetable patties - Make the size of the veggie patty the same as the size of the bun. If the mixture is too soft and crumbled then add little bread crumbs mix it well and make the patty.

7.) In a bowl, take 2 tbsp of Maida, little water and make a slurry out of it. It should not be too thick or too runny. Dip the patty in slurry once and place it on bread crumb mixture and coat the patty with crumb nicely. Do the same process with all the patties.


8.) Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry all the patties on each side till golden brown and crispy.

9.) Toasting burger buns - Slice burger buns into half and spread some butter on burger bun slices. Heat a pan and toast bun slices.


10.) Assembling of burgers - Now spread tangy mayonnaise, top up with freshly sliced cucumber, tomato and onion rings(optional). Place the vegetable patty on the bun and add a cheese slice over it.

12.) Spread some green chutney or mayonnaise dressing on second half of burger bun.


13.) Place the burger buns on top of each other. Enjoy with fries, ketchup 😊.
