Mushroom masala

Mushroom masala is a popular north indian dish which is easy to prepare and  makes for a  perfect dinner recipe with guests in your house or to get that awe reaction from the family๐Ÿ˜. It can be made as a dry side dish or with thick gravy. So lets get started people !!!

Preparation time: 15 mins
Cooking time: 20 mins
Servings: 2-3
Ingredients:
1.) Mushroom - 250 gm
2.) Onion - 1 large chopped
3.) Tomatoes - 1 small chopped
4.) Tomatoe puree - 1 small bowl
5.) Ginger - 1/2 inch piece finely chopped
6.) Garlic - 2 cloves finely chopped
7.) Dry red chilli - 2
8.) Coriander seeds (sookha dhaniya) - 1 tsp
9.) Cumin seeds (jeera) - 1 tsp
10.) Black pepper corns (kali mirch) - 8-10
11.) Coriander powder (dhaniya powder) - 1 tsp
12.) Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
13.) Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
14.) Salt - as per taste
15.) Coriander leaves - few chopped
16.) Bayleaf (tejpatta) - 2
17.) Oil - 2 tbsp

Note: To make mushroom masala more flavorful & tasty, we'll make a special masala with some dry spices.

1. Roast coriander seeds, dry red chilli, cumin seeds (jeera), black pepper corns (kali mirch) in a pan for 1-2 mins.
2. Now grind these roasted spices in a grinder for few secs. Do not make a smooth powder, let it remain coarse.

Method of Preparation:
1. Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds (jeera) and bay-leaf (tejpatta) to the pan.
2. Once cumin seeds (jeera) splutter.. add ginger, garlic and saute it for 2 mins.
3. Now add chopped onions and saute till it becomes golden brown in colour.
4. Now add all the powdered spices and mix it well.
5. Add chopped tomatoes, sprinkle some salt and cook till the tomatoes are mashed completely.
6. Add special masala to this mixture followed by mushroom and sprinkle some water. Cover and cook till they become soft.

7. Add tomato puree to give it a thick smooth texture. Cook for another few mins.
8. Garnish it with chopped coriander. Serve it hot with chapati or naan.
