Aloo Tikki Burger

Aloo tikki burger is a delicious combination of a spicy and crisp potato patty sandwitched between buns, layered with onion, tomato, lettuce, cheese slice and sauces. It is considered as a street food around the world but nowadays people enjoy it at home as well. Burger recipe has many variations in both veg and non veg but today I will tell you the most simplest of all which doesn't require much ingredients and can satisfy your burger cravings instantly. So let's know how to make this simple snack.

Servings: 6

Ingredients used:
1.) Potatoes- 5-6 medium sized
2.) Burger buns - 6
3.) Coriander leaves - few finely chopped
4.) Green chillies - 2 finely chopped
5.) Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
6.) Garam masala powder - 2 tsp
7.) Chat masala - 1 tsp
8.) Dry mango powder/ Amchur powder - 1 tsp
9.) Salt - as per taste
10.) Tomato - 12 thin slices
11.) Onion - 12 thin slices
12.) Cheese slice - 4
13.) Green chutney - 1 tbsp
14.) Tomato ketchup - 1 tbsp
15.) Mayonnaise - 2 tbsp
16.) Cucumber - 12 thin slices
17.) Oil - for shallow frying patties ( Around 6-7 tbsp)
18.) All purpose flour/ Maida - 1/2 cup
19.) Bread crumbs - For rolling
20.) Water - as required

Method of Preparation:
1.) Boil potatoes in pressure cooker for 3 whistles, then cool it, remove the skin and mash it. 

2.) To the mashed potatoes add chopped coriander, green chillies, all the spices like red chilli powder, amchur powder, salt, garam masala powder and mix it well.

3.) Now make round balls out of the mixture and keep it aside.


4.) Combine all purpose flour and 3/4 cup of water in a deep bowl, whisk well and keep it aside. Take out bread crumbs in a plate.


5.) Dip each tikki in flour-water mixture and roll it in breadcrumbs untill it is evenly coat from all sides. Do the same process for all the tikkis and keep it aside.



6.) Heat oil in a non stick pan and fry each tikki on low flame till turns golden brown from both the sides.



8.) While patties are being cooked, make a quick spread by mixing mayonnaise, tomato ketchup and green chutney (you can even use red chilli sauce).

9.) Cut each burger bun horizontally into two.
10.) Apply 1 tsp of butter to each half of the burger bun and toast them lightly on a non stick pan.
11.) Spread evenly prepared mayonnaise spread on each half, put a potato tikki, 2 onion rings, 2 tomato slices, cucumber slices and a cheese slice on top of it. Sprinkle some chat masala over it.



12.) Repeat step 9, 10 and 11 for other burger buns similarly.
13.) Cover the burger with top bun and serve it immediately with chips, fries as side. Enjoy 😊
